The tradition of hospitality at Ballynahinch Castle has long and strong foundations. The manor castle dates from the 18th century, upgraded in recent times to meet the needs of today's informal yet discerning clientele. The many beautiful rooms, including the luxury riverside wing are all tastefully furnished. Many have special features such as four poster beds, walk through wardrobes and fireplaces and all but two enjoy views of the river, mountains or both.

In casual country elegance, a superb restaurant, fed by fresh home produce, locally caught fish and wild shot game is complimented by an Old World pub and open log fires. The pub, once the billiard room of Ranji the cricketer Prince is a favourite among fishermen and shooting parties after a day in the clean Connemara air in pursuit of their quarry.

With 450 acres of exceptionally beautiful wooded grounds and walks, exclusive fishing rights on our own river and lakes, 13,000 acres of prime woodcock shoot, tennis, clay shooting and cycles the castle offers all the attractions of a private sporting estate. The Ballynahinch Fishery is a beautiful system sporting seven salmon beats and a limited amount of seatrout fishing. The woodcock shoot is only available for parties of eight to twelve guns and for three to five days only. All the ground is well rested between shoots and limited to a maximum of six shoots per season.

Situated on its private river, ringed by the 12 Bens, a championship golf course, Connemara National Park, sea fishing and horse riding are all within easy reach. Ballynahinch, the Jewel in the Crown of Connemara, encompasses late 20th century comforts in a setting untouched by time.
