Home > CORNHILL BEAT, RIVER CARRON - TERMS & CONDITIONS 2006

The Cornhill beat of the River Carron will be let on the following terms and conditions:

Cornhill consists of 12 named pools fished from the left bank only, the top extent of the fishings being the head of The Clump and the lower extend of the fishings being The Middle of the Whirl pool.

Dounie and Gledfield are opposite and will be fishing the other bank. Rods are requested to adhere to the normal etiquette of salmon fishing, and are reminded to keep moving down a pool, not to enter a pool below another angler, and to avoid deep wading.

There is a specific rule applying to the 5 pools shared between Dounie and Cornhill (Clump - Wall Pool inclusive). If 2 rods are fishing these five pools from the same bank, they are not to fish consecutive pools at the same time. This allows a rod from the other bank to fish the pool in between.

The maximum number of rods allowed at any one time will be 2. There will be no rod sharing without prior approval.

There is no resident ghillie although Alan Donaldson, part time ghillie, may be available (tel.no. 01863 755311). He is also a flytier and can provide local patterns.

Fishing will be by rod and line and fly only, and there will be no exception to this rule.

A record of numbers and weights of all fish caught together with a record of pools and angler’s name must be kept and entered in the weekly returns form provided. The completed return form must be returned to this office the week following a let. Please note the conservation guidelines contained in the attached “Salmon Conservation Policy River Carron 2006”.

All fish caught will remain the property of the tenant, subject to the bag limits in force from time to time.

All those fishing must have treated their fishing tackle and equipment against the Gyrodactylus salaris parasite in accordance with Scottish Office recommendations. The fishing tenant must also have signed and returned the certificate prior to any fishing taking place.

There are two huts on the beat and a car park at the top hut.

It is recommended that all fishermen wear lifejackets, particularly whilst wading.

If you are looking for self-catering accommodation please contact our holiday letting department in Inverness on 01463 226990/224707. www.cottagesandcastles.co.uk
Tenants should carry their return form in lieu of a permit entitling them to fish. These permits must be carried at all times. Tenants must produce their permits if requested by representatives of the owner or agents of the Cornhill beat, River Board bailiffs or the police.

Permits can only be authorised by the agents, CKD Galbraith, and they will be issued from the Perth Office only. The authorising signature of the agents will be Robert Rattray.

Unless otherwise specified a firm booking will be accepted on receipt of a cheque for 50% of the total rental which is to be a non-returnable deposit. The balance of the rent will be due for payment 6 weeks prior to the commencement of the tenancy, against an invoice to be issued from this office.

Acceptance of an offer of fishing renders the taker responsible for payment of the rent in full in the event of subsequent cancellation. However, should it be possible to re-let the cancelled days, it may be possible to refund the rent to the original taker, less 7.5% agency commission and an allowance to cover the cost of re-letting.

The tenant shall not sub-let the days taken or assign his fishing rights without the express approval of the agents, and shall on no account do so at a profit.

The owner and agents will accept no liability whatever for damage, injury or loss to the persons or belongings of the tenant(s) or those in his/her party, from whatever cause arising, nor can they be held responsible for adverse weather conditions or acts of God. All sportsmen must have third party insurance against sporting accidents.

The returns form will be issued when the second invoice is sent to the tenant.

In the event of CKD Galbraith cancelling the booking, the firm’s liability arising out of the cancellation of the booking for any reason whatsoever will be restricted to reimbursement of the monies paid to CKD Galbraith to date or the cost of the sport and accommodation booked, whichever is the lesser, unless specifically stated otherwise.
