Combine the best the Highlands has to offer with a stay at the Glenmoriston
Lodge and a trip to the
Craigiehowe shoot.
The Shoot
Perched on the peninsula between the Moray Firth and Munlochy Bay, Craigiehowe is 10 minutes drive to the east of Inverness with spectacular views over the Black Isle.
The topography at Craigiehowe lends itself to producing testing partridge shooting from the beginning of September. Driven pheasant and partridge shooting runs from the beginning of October until the end of January.
Craigiehowe's caledonian pines and silver birch trees are used as vantage points by cormorants, red kites and buzzards. Several ponds on the higher ground are home to ducks, which often come through the drives with the pheasant and partridge.
Drives have been developed to test guns in a variety of ways, ranging from the standard high, fast, straight pheasant, to fast curlers, to a drive with birds coming from three directions. Another drive sees partridge coming at grouse height (just off the ground) down the beach, with the chance of a second barrel at a high pheasant lifting off the Shore Bank.
