1. All Anglers must report to the Ghillie before fishing, and they should meet at the Fishing Hut beside the car park. 2. Normally fishing is from 9.00am to 5.00pm. However, during the grilse run in the months of June, July and August, regular tenants often fish late at night and early in the morning. Accordingly, the ghillie may not be available all of the time for tenants wishing to fish during the day. During these times, it is likely he will be away from the beat between lunchtime and 4.30pm. However, the lunch hut will be left open for those wishing to use it. 3. The owner reserves the right to fish 2 rods throughout the season. 4. The beat is fished with a maximum of 6 rods. A boat is available at the discretion of the Ghillie. 5. Life jackets should be worn at all times, and these will be available in the Fishing Hut. Tenants who do not wear life jackets do so entirely at their own risk. A charge of £20 will be made for replacement gas cylinders. 6. Anglers should note that it is an offence under Section 55(1) of the British Transport Commission Act 1949 to trespass upon any railway line. Fines of £1,000 can be incurred by offenders. Accordingly, the railway line is strictly out of bounds to anglers. 7. The beat is fished in rotation. You will be allocated a beat, please learn the boundaries of your beat and only fish within the boundaries. Changeover time 1.00pm. 8. Pools are fished in rotation, starting at the top and gradually moving downstream. Do not enter a pool downstream of fellow Anglers. 9. Rod sharing is not permitted. 10. All salmon/sea trout caught must be reported to the Ghillie, who maintains fishing records. 11. The Tay District Salmon Fisheries Board is undertaking a conservation initiative, particularly of spring fish, and we would be grateful if you would adhere to the Board’s catch and release recommendations. * From 15th January to 31st May – the first fish caught each day by each individual angler must be released. Each individual angler then has the option of keeping one subsequent fish only, per day. Anglers should not fish with worms during this period. * In the event of a fish having to be killed (bleeding excessively etc), where otherwise it would have been returned in accordance with the code, the fish remains the property of the beat, and must be handed in to one of the * From 1 June to end of season – all hen fish to be released. The aim should then be to release at least 50% of cock fish caught, in particular cock fish weighing over 15 lbs. * Worms must not be used as bait anywhere on this beat before 31st May and also during the months of September and October. * All coloured fish should be released throughout the year. * All foul hooked fish must be released. 12. All foul hooked/unseasonable fish must be safely returned to the river. Rods are particularly requested to return all coloured fish at any time throughout the season. The ghillie’s decision in this matter is final. 13. Lures: any legal method. Shrimp and prawn prohibited at all times. 14. Use of a gaff is forbidden. 15. Be considerate to fellow Anglers. 16. No litter to be discarded. Please bring it back to the Fishing Hut to be disposed of by the Ghillie. 17. Follow the Country Code, particularly in relation to dogs, risk of fires and closure of gates. 18. No fixed rods or set lines. 19. No sub-letting. 20. The ghillie’s word is final. The proprietors shall not be bound to refund any rents paid in the event of cancellation for whatever reason. 21. Rents are payable as follows: a 50% deposit, which will be non-returnable, must be paid to confirm a booking, and the balance will be payable before the end of the month prior to that in which the fishing is booked or, where bookings are made in the same month as the fishings, the rent is payable in full to confirm the booking. Please note that all rents are quoted on a fully inclusive basis, which includes commission and VAT where applicable. RISK ASSESSMENT It is recommended that all fishermen wear lifejackets, particularly whilst wading. A detailed “Fishing Risk Assessment” is posted on our sporting website www.sportinglets.co.uk and all those fishing at Dalguise must have read this prior to fishing. If you do not have access to the internet, please let us know. 22. The proprietors will accept no liability whatever for damage, injury or loss to the persons or belongings of the tenant, or those in his party, from whatever cause arising, nor can they be held in any way responsible for adverse weather conditions or acts of God. 23. The tipping of the ghillie is a traditional part of British etiquette and tenants are encouraged to do so. We recommend a minimum rate of £10 per rod per day.
