| Home > DOUNIE BEAT, RIVER CARRON - TERMS & CONDITIONS |
The Dounie Beats consist of 22 pools on two beats (Upper & Lower) with all the fishing on the right bank unless specific arrangement has been made to fish the left bank on the upper beat. The upper beat left bank is reserved for the owners who have a right to fish 2 rods in good water conditions. The beats are rotated on a daily basis with changeover being effective from 13.30hrs. Please vacate your beat by 13.00hrs. Upper Beat: Marge, Bishop’s Run, New, Campbells, Captains, Richard’s, Mrs Ross, Constandouros Run, Hiding and Hunter’s Hole. Lower Beat: Little Gorge, Dune, Dune Run, Dune Stream, Narrows, Clump, Well, Mackenzie Stream, Mackenzie, Dog’s Hole and Wall. The Big Gorge can be fished by either party throughout the day. Normal rules of etiquette apply. If in doubt please ask Kim Sawyer. There is a specific rule applying to the 5 pools shared between Dounie and Cornhill (Clump - Wall Pool inclusive). If 2 rods are fishing these five pools from the same bank, they are not to fish consecutive pools at the same time. This allows a rod from the other bank to fish the pool in between. Cornhill is opposite the lower beat. Rods are requested to adhere to the normal etiquette of salmon fishing, and are reminded to keep moving down a pool, not to enter a pool below another angler, and to avoid deep wading. The maximum number of rods allowed at any one time will be two per beat. There will be no rod sharing without prior approval. Kim Sawyer (tel.no. 01863 766439) is the resident ghillie, and is available to show tenants the beat at the commencement of their tenancy. It is recommended rods contact him in advance. Fishing will be by rod and line and fly only, and there will be no exception to this rule. A record of numbers and weights of all fish caught together with a record of pools and angler’s name must be kept and handed to Kim Sawyer at the end of the tenancy. Please note the conservation guidelines contained in the attached “Salmon Conservation Policy, River Carron 2006”, and we would ask that these are adhered to. All fish caught will remain the property of the tenant, subject to the bag limits in force from time to time. All those fishing must have treated their fishing tackle and equipment against the Gyrodactylus salaris parasite in accordance with Scottish Office recommendations. The fishing tenant must also have signed and returned the Certificate prior to any fishing taking place. All pools are easily accessible, with good access along the banks to the pools. Seats are provided at most pools. It is recommended that all fishermen wear lifejackets, particularly whilst wading. Any paying rod will be entitled to use the car port to have lunch, and may set up the table and bench for this purpose. They will also be entitled to park their car at the lodge, and to use the outside wc in the car park. However, paying rods will also be invited to use the car park half way up the drive, and will be encouraged to use the table by the Little Gorge for lunch in fair weather. Paying rods may only use the Summer House by invitation of Kim Sawyer. The Bard cottage sleeping 4 is available for let, and is very convenient for the beat. Please contact our Inverness office on 01463 226990/224707. (Also for our Cottages & Castles brochure). Tenants should carry these terms and conditions in lieu of a permit. Tenants must produce their permits if requested by representatives of the owner or agents of the Dounie Beat, River Board bailiffs or the police. Unless otherwise specified a firm booking will be accepted on receipt of a cheque for 50% of the total rental which is to be a non-returnable deposit. The balance of the rent will be due for payment 6 weeks prior to the commencement of the tenancy, against an invoice to be issued from this office. Acceptance of an offer of fishing renders the taker responsible for payment of the rent in full in the event of subsequent cancellation. However, should it be possible to re-let the cancelled days, it may be possible to refund the rent to the original taker, less 7.5% agency commission and an allowance to cover the cost of re-letting. The tenant shall not sub-let the days taken or assign his fishing rights without the express approval of the agents, and shall on no account do so at a profit. The owner and agents will accept no liability whatever for damage, injury or loss to the persons or belongings of the tenant(s) or those in his/her party, from whatever cause arising, nor can they be held responsible for adverse weather conditions or acts of God. All sportsmen must have third party insurance against sporting accidents. In the event of CKD Galbraith cancelling the booking, the firm’s liability arising out of the cancellation of the booking for any reason whatsoever will be restricted to reimbursement of the monies paid to CKD Galbraith to date or the cost of the sport and accommodation booked, whichever is the lesser, unless specifically stated otherwise.
