Situated on the edge of the Grampian Mountains in one of the Angus Glens, Glenogil is a renowned Sporting Estate with ground rising from around 600 feet to over 2,300 feet. The continuing programme of investment and intensive management ensures Glenogil continues to offer some of the best grouse, pheasant and partridge shooting in the country. It is highly accessible within Scotland.
Grouse Shooting
The grouse moor extends over 20,000 acres and comprises the Glenogil, Glen Moy, Glenqueich, Fern and Nathro beats. After a period of light shooting combined with an intensive management programme, grouse stocks have increased dramatically. Following recently successful seasons in 2008, 2009 and 2010, 2011 has been the best season to date, with an all time Glenogil record bag of 447 brace in one day. Building on this success, we look forward to offering driven days of 80-150 brace to full teams of 9 guns from late August to the end of September 2012.
Pheasant and Partridge Shooting
Occupying nearly 3,000 acres of low ground and woods, the pheasant and partridge shooting at Glenogil has earned a deserved reputation as one of the best driven shoots in the area. The mix of established woods, marginal bracken on the fringe of the grouse moor, and deep gullies provides a wonderful mix of drives to show high and testing birds for the best of guns. Drives include The Beaches, Auchnacree, Glenley, Mochrie and St Arnolds rivalling anything in the country. Partridges are shot from late September with pheasants following on from late October to the end of the season. Days between 150 and 300 birds will be available for full teams of up to 9 guns in 2012.
Fishing
Glenogil estate is able to offer Salmon and seatrout fishing on the nearby Cortachy and Downie Park beats (see adjacent page).
Accommodation
Accommodation is available in a number of properties on the estate, from Redheugh Lodge, a classically built and recently refurbished shooting lodge which sleeps up to 18, to The Bothy, a converted steading building sleeping 8 in 4 twin rooms. We are happy to assist with any accommodation requirements for fishing and shooting parties.
The Drovers Inn, adjacent to the beat and 10mins from the estate, is a popular local hostelry with excellent food and bar facilities.
