| Rhidorroch House is
only 4 miles from Ullapool. It lies above Loch Achall with commanding
views up the Glen to the East and to the South. Boating and fishing on
the loch are a mere stones throw from the house. The Estate road runs
below the house and Eastwards for 4 miles, which is easy cycling for
children, further on is the 16-mile hill track to Oykel Bridge.
Features of the house include a large veranda, an oak panelled dining room, full sized billiard table, children's TV room, converted games room and traditional comfortable drawing room. The house was built by the renowned London architect Talbot Clifton taking 6 years to build and completed in 1898. Mr Clifton asked the Countess of Cromarty for a lease on the salmon fishing on the River Ullapool and in return he agreed to build her a house that she would be proud of. Indeed the house is beautifully constructed and situated slightly above the loch giving spectacular views of the loch, glen and hills through its large spacious windows. Accommodation includes: DRAWING ROOM - A spacious south facing room with victorian fireplace, writing desk, grand piano, colour television, numerous comfy chairs and sofas and large windows overlooking the loch.
