Scaliscro Lodge lies on the west coast of Lewis overlooking the picturesque sea loch, Little Loch Roag with west facing views of the hills of Uig. A two mile private road from the main Uig road ensures privacy and seclusion. The estate has an organic salmon hatchery, mussel farm and hill farm with Highland Cattle and Hebridean Sheep.

Scaliscro has a relaxed and informal atmosphere and is most suitable for large family groups with your children learning to fish and shoot in a wild and unspoilt environment. As well as traditional field sports other activities include sea angling, canoeing, sailing, surfing, clay pigeon shooting, and lobster fishing.

Sea trips can be arranged from Port Scaliscro to explore the numerous lagoons and islands of Loch Roag and weather permitting to St. Kilda or the Flannan Isles.

Accommodation

Scaliscro Lodge includes 2 sitting rooms with open fires, large dining room, sun lounge, cocktail bar with pool table, rod room, drying room, map hall and games attic with table tennis and a children's theatre and dressing up clothes. There are 4 double/twin en suite bedrooms, 1 single en suite and a further 5 double/twin bedrooms and 1 triple bedroom with 3 bathrooms and 1 shower room accommodating up to 22 guests. The lodge also has satellite broadband and a tarmacadam tennis court and a fish smoking kiln. Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement.

Fishing

Salmon and sea trout loch fishing from July onwards on Lochs Langavat, Fhir Mhaoil and Suirstavat. Scaliscro is best known for the quality and variety of brown trout fly fishing in particular on Lochs Bruiche Breivat, Ahaltair and Tungavat where trout up to 4lbs are taken. Eleven lochs have rowing boats and the more remote lochs are reached by the estate argocat or 4wd bikes. Experienced local ghillies provided by arrangement.

 

Shooting

Walked up grouse and snipe shooting over pointers is available from early September onwards, and walked up woodcock and snipe on the open hill and in the plantations from November onwards. Limited stalking on Scaliscro is available from late August.

Scaliscro is an ideal Hebridean family holiday location for larger parties.
